The Charles Flowers Jaguars moved pass the Bladensburg Mustangs in an impressive 27-6 win at Jaguar Stadium in Springdale on Saturday.  Flowers exploded in the first quarter when Running Backs Daquan Davis #28 and Carl Turner #6 combined for a pair of touchdowns to put the Jaguars ahead 13-0. The Jaguar defense held Bladensburg to less than 50 yards of total offense in the first quarter.  The Jaguars’ third touchdown at the top of the second quarter came when Jaguar Quarterback Roman Williams threw an 11 yard touchdown pass to Bentley Ukonu giving Flowers a 21 point lead.  With just 8 minutes left in the second quarter, a Flowers’ muffled punt is recovered by the Mustangs on the Jaguars 20 yard line.

The Mustangs would quickly take advantage of the muffled punt in four plays by taking the ball to the Jaguars 7 yard line.  The Mustangs finished the drive with a 7 yard pass from Kevin Rowan to Byron Bamigbade for the score but they failed to convert the extra point. Before the second half when Jaguar Running Back Daquan Davis went down with an ankle injury, Turner and Mack stepped up.  Head coach Mike Mayo said we have a good back in Marcus Mack #8 so we don’t feel like we loose anything by going with him; so we just kept doing what we do.  We carry the ball by committee.  I see who’s doing what on what day and we get the ball in their hands” The Mustangs found life in the second half by marching the ball into Jaguar territory.  They challenged the Jaguar secondary with a series of pass attempts, however, they were plagued with fumbles and turnovers. Jaguars stalled the Mustang drive with an interception at the Jaguars' 45 yard line.  The Mustangs finished with less than 100 yards of total offense for the day.  The Jaguars closed out the game with a 2 yard run by Marcus Mack late in the second half to end the game 27-6 (Flowers).  The Jaguars (3-0) are back in action Friday night at Northwestern High School (2-1).  The Mustangs will host DuVal next Saturday at 2pm.
