Thi program elect athlete who have performed well in their previou ea on or have been een by AIST cout that travel the nation, giving athlete the opportunity to travel abroad to play their port of choice. The e athlete are at the college level, playing in NCAA divi ion I, II, III, NAIA, or Jr. College. The idea i to give player a lifelong memory and the honor of repre enting the United State . March Madness! Those words call out to every college basketball fan across the nation. If your one of them the next few weeks signifies great basketball, spring break and the unofficial month long holiday during the NCAA tournament.  The only other holiday that compares to March Madness is the NFL playoffs and the Super Bowl.  For college basketball teams; entering the tournament is a rite of passage for 64 teams to earn the opportunity to advance to the sweet 16, elite 8 and the final four.  After three weeks of intense play, the two surviving teams play for the grand prize "The NCAA National Championship”

The 2012 United Way Campaign served up a little healthy basketball competition between the Prince Georges County Department of Public Works “Ballaz” and the Prince George’s County Department of Corrections “Renegades”. For the Campaign, both agencies teamed up to hold a charity basketball fundraiser at Cedar Heights Recreational Center.  A greater than expected crowd of fellow employees, family members and agency leadership were on hand from both agencies to support their employees including DPW&T's own Gwen Clerkley, Associate Director of Highway Maintenance and Andre Issayan, Deputy  Director of DPW&T  just to name a few.
