Many of us believe that only professional or competitive athletes can suffer the life-threatening consequences of dehydration, but the truth is that anyone is at risk for becoming mildly, moderately, or severely dehydrated. However, don’t fret or cancel your next workout!  Dehydration is 100% preventable if the correct precautions are taken.

T he first regular season flag football game between Lady Elite and Lady Outlawz took place at Deanwood Recreation Center under near-perfect football weather on Sunday.  With a good capacity crowd on hand the former Ely League Champions Lady Elite, led by head coach Leonard Teamer and Defensive Coordinator Chris Jackson took the field against the Lady Outlawz. The Lady Outlawz, led by head coach Jovan Means are the new comers to the league.  They represent some of the newest talents the Ely Flag Football League of Washington, DC has to offer.

The e dream were made po ible when I wa invited by AIST (American International Sport Team ) to play on one of their oftball team . Thi program elect athlete who have performed well in their previou ea on or have been een by AIST cout that travel the nation, giving athlete the opportunity to travel abroad to play their port of choice. The e athlete are at the college level, playing in NCAA divi ion I, II, III, NAIA, or Jr. College. The idea i to give player a lifelong memory and the honor of repre enting the United State . The Charles Flowers Jaguars moved pass the Bladensburg Mustangs in an impressive 27-6 win at Jaguar Stadium in Springdale on Saturday.  Flowers exploded in the first quarter when Running Backs Daquan Davis #28 and Carl Turner #6 combined for a pair of touchdowns to put the Jaguars ahead 13-0. The Jaguar defense held Bladensburg to less than 50 yards of total offense in the first quarter.  The Jaguars’ third touchdown at the top of the second quarter came when Jaguar Quarterback Roman Williams threw an 11 yard touchdown pass to Bentley Ukonu giving Flowers a 21 point lead.  With just 8 minutes left in the second quarter, a Flowers’ muffled punt is recovered by the Mustangs on the Jaguars 20 yard line.

Alex Robinson, a 6’4”, 225 lb senior at Bowie High School has just signed his letter-of-intent to play NCAA Division I football at Norfolk State University.  This bittersweet moment brings to a close the first chapter of Alex’s football career.

The Southern Maryland Youth Lacrosse Association held its One day 2012 tournaments for the Potomac and Chesapeake Leagues in Bowie this past weekend.  The well attended tournament featured teams from all over the State of Maryland; featuring ages from 5-6 year olds to 15.
